KTM Orange Paint Code

Edited Date/Time 12/20/2017 8:18am
After 180 hours my 2016 350 XCF is ready for fresh update.
New piston.
Complete disassembly down to the frame.
Plan to have the frame powder coated in the 2018 KTM Orange.
Anyone know a paint code?

2009 is the closest. even though ktm changed the color a bit for 2016, the RAL 2009 is still the closest unless you have a custom color mixed up just for you. I checked sample cars from all the top companies and several local shops. 2009 is your best match

2009- traffic orange
2008- red orange (darker)

My 2013 was 2009. Lighter than 2016+ models

The funny thing is, after looking at over a zillion orange samples, the 2009 is still the closest match to either of the shades - pre or post 2016

Looks good! Was that your first tear down at 180 hours?

It was.
Motor was still very strong...had probably lost a little bit of power and had an occasional puff of smoke on start up but nothing bad at all. Chose instead to freshen up the "old" girl instead of buying new.

I guess I couldn't stand the thought of some crappy D rider mistreating her Smile

Haha, awesome! I just picked up a 250 exc-f and am wondering how she'll be once I get some miles on her, this is good news to hear.

Did you get it powder coated or spray it? Also wondering how did you strip off old paint. did you have to thread chase all the threads after? Last did you remove the steering stem races?

Power coated. Ricks Powder Coating in Memphis charges $200 for the frame and motor mounts. Not sure if that is a good price or not since I didn't shop around and we dont have a ton of options in this area anyway.
They strip it and put paper inside the holes
(But we still run a tap though all holes)
The races were not removed
