I've been looking to buy a used klx110, but all of them in my area seem to have big bore kits. I'm not against the idea of some more power, but will it take away from the reliability.

Also are they noticeably louder? I was planning on making a small pitbike track in my yard and don't want to annoy the neighbors.

A big bore 143 kit with a stock head should be just as reliable as a stock engine if it was installed and maintained properly, and not much louder if the stock pipe is still used. The more mods you get the louder they are, seems like teh big valve heads really add a lot of noise. I have a tb 143 v2 kit with a bbr pipe and it sounds like a damn 450. My stock 110L is super quiet. For your situation I would try to keep em stock, mainly for less noise.

my buddy has a 143 and beats the piss out of it with little to no maintenance, even leaked out all the oil and ran it dry for a few minutes. not blowing smoke or down on power still. His has an FMF pipe which is loud as shit but the stock pipe keeps it down well.

The only thing I find with the cheap big bore kits is "nikasil" is really thin. That said it's cheap enough just to buy a whole new cylinder etc everytime so not really an issue. Reliability otherwise seems same as stock. No sound difference that I have heard.......like above my boys have ran ours outta oil a few times. Poor pitbikes don't get the care that our race bikes do..........

I’m also looking into buying a 110 with a big boar. Is there any way to tell if it was installed right when I am meeting the person to buy it?

Agree, mine has a 134 kit with cam. I ran it with stock exhaust for years. Sounds just like a stock one. Very reliable too, as long as its cared for properly.
