Came across this picture while digging around on the inter web and was intrigued. Someone out there must have som knowledge of this and how it worked/what was being accomplished/etc.

Those are the original high-end boots by Alpinestars called "Tech 8s" ...

(that's just a different location for a shock. Easier to access, swap, lowers the center of gravity, but also reduces ground clearance)

It was designed by a Dutch guy called Jan De Groot who ran the factory Kawasaki team in the GP’s.

It also allowed a straight shot into the airbox with little to no bends in it so the air delivery was direct...supposedly made great power.

Seems like that shock would get destroyed in that location?

I've been after a garage queen '93 or '94 CR125 and I've always been tempted to ask sandman768. Haha. Those year CRs are hard to find!

sandman768 how much $$$ do you want for that 93' cr125 in your avatar pic?
JBone, that’s my Doug Henry replica! I searched hi & low in the northeast for 5 years to find a decent 93-97 CR125. I looked at about 5 absolute piles of junk before I found this low hr bike. Still on original cylinder, I put 10-12 hrs on it this year, so it will come apart for top end service & new clutch assy. I had one back in 94, for a 30 year old 125 it is still impressive when ridden correctly. Several times I brought a modern bike with me when I rode it & never unloaded the modern bike. No plans to sell, but if I change mind I let you know.

Very hard to find in the northeast... looked for 5 years! I blew one deal on a 96 that was pretty clean, I tried to get it a few hundred less than asking, the seller would not budge. Drove home, thought about it, called guy back it was sold! Lesson learned. When I bought this one a few years ago, I thought I paid too much, but looking at prices now, I did ok on it.

is that an actual 93'? forks, motor, 18" rear wheel?
Yes... pretty much stock, forks have stiffer springs, Ti Yz250f rear shock spring, PC pipe & silencer, vforce reeds. 1 additional tooth on rear sprocket.

I found the patent drawings for it one time, I'll see if I can find them again.
