How do the pros get their tires to keep spinning so easily?

Was at the monster million Saturday and noticed the guys washing bikes the wheels just kept spinning so freely. I would do anything to get mine to turn so free. Wasn’t sure if they had special bearings or what. Thanks for info

Back bleed the brakes.

Cryo treated bearings cleaned and refreshed every round along with the trans receiving the same service. My front goes crazy on the pressure washer like you mention, the rear with all that drag is different and it barely gets going

New bearings, new chain and brakes that don't drag.

I’m not sure why but the rear wheel on my 350 spins like it has no chain attached. It’s honestly amazing how little drag it has while my 450 wont go two revolutions before grinding to a halt with new bearings and the exact same chain/sprocket setup.

Your front should spin freely unless your brakes are dragging, and I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the pro's don't use O ring or x ring chains on the rear they drag to much, non O ring chains have very little drag that's why the rears spin freely when being washed.

Why use a sealed chain when you get a new one put on every time you ride the bike? Definitely less parasitic drag with a solid roller chain though

Push on the rear caliper until it opens up a little bit. I also do this before removing the rear wheel. Makes it easier to put it back on.

My yz 250 rear wheel will spin like a front wheel - Its because I have a standard chain , non sealed. My 450 rear wheel struggles to spin with the pressure washer, because its an x ring chain. as a mere mortal I dont notice the extra mass on the 450 and im not using all the power anyways. Less drag the better on the 2 stroke.

Most teams I know run Ceramic bearings thru out the machine. We even built a couple that way for our privateer effort, several years back. TREMENDOUS difference in reducing drag and friction , however VERY pricey and for 99% of us would not be worth it.

We used to run ceramic wheel bearings and would cut the garter spring off the seals.

Not really sure the ceramic bearings will be a great help. They would be but very expensive and what would be the life of the bearing? And would it really make a difference

I think it’s generally a situation with the brakes dragging a little. Push your pads apart then report back to us

Every bike I have owned spins like that. I take off the tire and grease the axle before and after every race (woods) and I take a bronze wire wheel to it. Also, you could have your clip in the rear brake cylinder installed wrong. Causing it to drag the back brakes a little.
