I can't get a socket on it and w tench won't fit on one of them but will barely fit on the other with the open end which barely grips at all. 2001 cr125.

I could be wrong, but those bolts hold down that bearing retainer which should sit about flush on the face of the bearing. From the pic, it looks the bearing retainer has suffered from a bunch of stress fractures from somebody trying to hammer or press that bearing out without first removing the retainer. Now the retainer is bent and you can't access those two bolts.

If the open end of the box wrench isn't getting at it, you could try a thin walled socket but I doubt that will get at it either. Either cut/grind the bolt head off, or fix that bearing retainer so there is no more lip interfering with the bolts.

Tap the bearing back down and bend the retainer down afterwards.

X2.... pound that bearing back in and flatten the retainer back out and use a socket to remove. And replace retainer with new. That''s some funny stuff there...lol

Yeah I ended up cutting it. Whoever took this engine apart before me was an idiot. I've seen so many things they did wrong, one of them being prying the crank cases apart by hammering a screw driver between and prying it. One of the cases is cracked all over. It's just bad.

Pretty amazing that the entire case half didn't implode when they kept driving the bearing against that retainer. That case is stressed (possibly warped) very good.

I just can't believe they weren't smart enough to turn it over and realize "oh I gotta take out these two bolts" and instead beat the bearing out until it cracked the crankcase and bent the plate... and the bearing is still stuck in there.

I'd say the bearing retainer did it's job and then some.
