Hot start plunger

Had to yank a hot start plunger out of the carb on a kx250 & broke it lol. From the research ive done, its common for these to seize in the hole. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Can you put grease on it or anything?

Yes, coat it with waterproof grease when assembling.
