Never attempted this method before, but when referring to the service manual it instructs you to place the cases in the oven and heat to around 305-310 and then tapping the case on a solid service to let the bearings fall out. I've already degreased the case and internals and was wondering if anyone has any other tips? Is it going to make my house stink?

If you degrease and soap the cases prior to putting them the oven, they don't smell that bad at all. Regarding the bearings falling on their own or falling out by tapping the case on a hard surface, it's a mixed bag. I find that only one or two bearings come out and you have to use a dowel to tap them out the rest of the way. The most difficult ones to remove are the thin needle roller bearing fornrhe shift drum. Those bearing are also blind and require a blind bearing puller.

Mine didn’t make any smell after being cleaned. The bearings all fell out on their own.

The freezer oven trick for installing is just as easy also. I sprayed my bearing casings with wd-40 before installing, can’t remember if it said to do that in the manual or I read it somewhere else

This bearing was tricky to pull without special tools. I used a center punch and stuck it inside the bearing then worked it back and forth and it came out pretty easily

That bearing is the main reason I wanted to go this route, just looked like a PITA.

I may have gotten lucky, but it was very easy with the center punch that is pictured

If you have the HF bearing remover tool, it's easy to pull those bearings.
Pull the seal out, then use needle nose pliers to remove the tin bearing retainer. Push the bearings off to one side and remove the inner race, then the bearings. Use the HF slide tool to remove the outer race.

No but heating up 10” mini tires in the oven so you can get those bastards on will create a stink. With your wife. I do not miss the mini days!

Hahaha I’ve never heard of anyone doing that, but I’d imagine my wife wouldn’t be happy at all Laughing

I use a hot plate in the garage. You could pick up a used toaster oven for cheap. Keep the dirty/stinky stuff away from the food.

Blind bearing puller from HF and a 20 ton press have made my life MUCH easier these past few months.

I used a grill with the cases on a baking sheet. Took about 10 minutes before i started hearing bearings drop out, but it worked like a charm! expect sealed bearings get stinky.

Put some tinfoil down on the BBQ grill. Works great! Wife will not get mad either.
