Filing your worn clutch basket

Saw a video about filing the groves out of a worn clutch basket? Has anyone else seen this? Does it work or is it a bad idea?

I’ve done it in a pinch, yes it works; do I recommend it? no... when you file the basket you open up the tolerances between the fibers and basket Which cause the basket to notch quicker... obviously, the correct way is to replace the basket...

You can file them, but understand that you are placing uneven pressure on the fiber plate fingers and the notches will return or you may break a fiber or 2. DON'T DO IT!

I'll file once, if not super bad and then order a new basket

Once is fine but don’t file down so far as to remove entire grove. As mentioned above by reliable sources... it will come back quicker so order a new basket ASAP while you get a few more rides out of it.
