The bike began making the infamous ticking sound which sounded like the cam chain tensioner. I took the bike apart checked my tensioner and replaced it with the tokyo mods manual one. I also checked my valve clearance which was out of spec. I got them all in spec and of course did all of this while at top dead center. I then put it all back together and the bike sounded fine. I went and rode and about 1 lap in once the bike was hot the sound got worse and amplifies with rpms. I just got back took it apart completely and noticed wear on my intake rocker arm and cam which I am assuming is my problem. BUT before I go and spend the money does anyone have any input, similar experience or why this happened out of no where?

Sweet Jesus! That rocker arm and cam are toasty! My only suspicion would be:

-clogged cam/rocker oil jet and lack of lube
-overly tight intake valves which basically means the rocker arm was riding on the entire cam lobe and never getting a chance to cool down or re-lube itself.
-improper heat treatment of the rocker arm and it was too soft (manufacturer defect). I doubt this as it's rare and I haven't seen this before unless someone smoked and oil pump and lost pressure to oil the cam.

How many hours on the bike?

Oiling starvation problem.
Replace the cam and rocker for sure.

Dynodan, the bike has 65 hours top end was done at 60.
My intake valves were very tight when I originally checked them which may explain why this could happen. I also noticed the intake rocker arm shaft has an extra hole in the middle where I am assuming oil lubricates the system. I did not notice this until after I disassembled, When I replace it does that hole face up or down?

Bad oil pump, plugged oil filter, oil leak and or plugged oil jets ( as already stated.)

Looks like more bad news, no idea if this needs to be repaired or if I can get by with it?

Your going to need to replace the seat. I would do the intakes as a pair and get new valves. Ouch.

Hi, I had the same problem, some people say only use oil 10W60.

Notice any black plastic bits in your oil when you drained it? Inspect your oil filter also..You could have a bad plastic oil pump drive gear, on the clutch side or a broken pump drum on the left side, in front of the shifter….check both for damages….that would cause top end oil starvation…..

You can check the oil jet for the head by turning the engine over while pushing the kill button. Oil should be squirting past the head after about four seconds. The rocker arm shaft hole should face upward. There is an alignment line at the top of the shaft to aid in alignment. I had black residue on the cam lobes when I checked my valves at 10 hours. I cleaned the residue off with metal polish. The bike has 110 hours on it now and no signs of valve movement or cam wear. Motorex Crosspower 4T 10-50. 90F-60F air temp.

Check the oil pump drive gear for warping/would replace w billet
the jet can be taken out and blown out
Replace intake valve components
Its not a oil wt issue
Your trying to lap the vales? Cut the seats w new valves

To be fair, it was certainly NOT an opinion.

Lay off the Red Bull before you stroke out, friend.

My VERY PRODUCTIVE comment was aimed at the others after you that didn't realize you resurrected a dead thread from over 2yrs ago and are attempting to help the OP with a problem that surely has long since been resolved.
