Building a garage with concrete floor and want to epoxy next year once the concrete is fully cured.

Any of you use the Rustoleum product line? If so, how has it held up after years of abuse? Did you use the initial product or did you use the newer "Rocksolid" product?

Thanks!

Can't speak of the rustoleum stuff but I just did my new shop with Leggari product and it was great. Very easy to use.

It is slippery when it's wet. I had the option to use grit additive to the clear coat but I decided not to use it, I only work on bikes in this shop so it is never really wet unless you walk in out of the rain

I used epoxy coat, it’s a 2 part with a catalyst for both the base & the clear... I wouldn’t do the flakes again, when you drop something small, it takes a long time to find it! I would also add the sand to the clear, when the floor gets wet it’s very slippery.did my floor 7 years ago, holding up great with some slight yellowing in the 1 bay that I occasionally keep the door open

Epoxy Coat here too about 11 years ago.
Durability has been very good. Numerous items dropped on the floor with good chip resistance.
Yellowing has been an issue.

Does look absolutely fantastic. I watched a ton of Leggari videos and love their color combinations. What color combo is yours? Also - do you have an approximate cost per square foot? I have 1500 sqft.

Great to hear about the durability. I'd probably have my garage doors open a lot... hmm..

Same here. As mentioned, the paint chips make small parts a bitch to find. My floor is about 15 years old. Since I use tool like floor jacks on it it is dull in some places and I have chipped it in a couple places but it is really tough.

I thought the prep when the coatings went on was excellent and no doubt why it has stuck so well.

Mine is silver base with black highlights. My 1200sq ft shop was $3300 in material I think. They have a price out for sq/ft on their site when you look at the kits

We had a yellowing problem with ours too. It was about 6-7 years old at the time.

I often spray the floor with brake cleaner or WD-40 to clean spills up (sometimes gas on a towel, too). This is probably blasphemy, I know ...

How do floor epoxies generally hold up to such chemical exposure?

Ours was good for things like that, but one time someone knocked over a fuel jug and didn’t notice for a couple minutes so fuel dripped out of the vent and pooped on the floor for a little bit. It was right on the corner of the epoxy and driveway, the epoxy bubbled slightly and peeled up around the edge.

We didn’t do the epoxy, the previous homeowner did it before moving out so I can’t attest if the prep and everyday was done correctly, but as far as coolant, contact cleaner, and brake fluid everything always wiped up easy and never stained or peeled other than the gas incident, but like I said we could possibly chalk that one up possible shitty prep work or install.

I have put down quite a few epoxy floors, from basements to garages to produce inspection rooms at a nation food supplier. We have used many different brand/type epoxy floors but in my opinion the best so far has been Sherwin Williams Armourseal 8100, and if you don't put the shark bite grip sand in you are asking for a busted ass when you fall. We have always prepped these floors new or old with a floor grinder and clean correctly before applying epoxy.
