Anyone run one of his 325 kits on a YZ?
Thoughts?
How did it change the power band?
TIA

A friend rode one today in the desert. He wasn’t impressed with the lack of top end power. Said it would probably be great in the tighter stuff though

I have a athena kit on my yz, obviously not a esr 325, but the 300 even with the porting seems pretty flat on top, I feel my stock bore cylinder is every bit as strong and definitely is better mid and up, the 300 is pretty good in the tight stuff.

Thanks Kristen, I'm curious because I'm looking to build a low to mid motor with a bit more torque/roll on power.

Going to be mostly bottom-mid with ESR325. You need more stroke to make anything much bigger then 265cc YZ work well on the top end.

I had the 325 with mx porting for race gas I was able to pull higher gears and go to a smaller rear sprocket it was easy to jet and worked well but it gave up the hard hitting yz power and top end was gone the next yz 250 I bought I left a 250

Great input. Appreciate it. Anyone have any experience with the Eric Gorr kit?
I'm curious how they compare/contrast.
TIA

Haven't ran it, but have heard plenty. Better off going TMR or Terry Varner.

Thanks all for the input. Evidently ESR must be really busy. I emailed and text with questions, so far no response.

Communication is a common problem with ESR unfortunately, from what I’ve read he’s a one man operation..

My Purpose:
Is to promote available Big Bores, 300 or 325. I wish a 350 or 400cc was available (Probably don't need bigger)

Lightweight 300/325 cc 2-Strokes are the ANSWER for 75% of the Riders who need inexpensive MX/SX/Off-Road Motorcycles. Athena, ESR, LA Sleeve, Tom Morgan, Eric Gorr all have a Big Bore Kits that work, some better than others.

But ESR's Cylinder Kit (ESR 325 CEO kit (Mike Alessi) WON the Monster Energy Cup (MEC, LCQ), finished 19th overall), is the BEST VALUE for the Money!

In my mind, I will NEVER go back to a 250 - There is no Replacement for Displacement!

Rides by friends make the comment, who needs EFI, the Throttle response is instantaneous!

MX Tracks: At 30%+ Throttle Torque out of the turn WAY better than a 250
-Compared to a 450 it has a similar MidRange and High End (last 20% Throttle has a Kick) (Installed ESR Pipe)
-Closer to but not as much as a 450 with a very Linear power band, almost like an Electric Motor
-Way easier to ride than a 250
-Everywhere the ESR is stronger than a 250 could ever hope to be

Off-Road: Try to stall my bike you may not be able to
-Want to ride Extreme Enduro, (Installed Rekluse EXP Core with Machined Billet Clutch Basket) no problem

My Setup: Yamaha YZ ESR 325 - 2007 Model

-ESR 325, S7 Woods Porting, Silver Head, Race Gas Dome, (Use Race/Pump Gas 50/50)
-165 Main Jet and 42 Pilot Jet, Needle in the top position, Riding Altitude 500’ to 4,000’

ESR 325 Mike Allessi WINS - Full LQC from the 2019 Monster Energy Cup. Watch Mike Alessi qualify the first ever two stroke in MEC history. 🏁🏁🏁

History was made:
First 2-Stroke Yamaha YZ ESR 325 with a Combined Optimized Efficiency (CEO) Big Bore Cylinder Kit to make the Monster Energy Cup Main Show (Finished 19th) and Hole Shot in the LCQ against Performance/Factory 450’s.

“Small manufacturing businesses drives the US Economy”
Manufacturing isn’t just for large businesses. In fact, 98.6% of all manufacturing companies in the United States are small businesses and the majority of them have fewer than 20 employees.

When looking at the relationship between manufacturing companies and how many employees there are, the vast majority of manufacturers have very few employees.

According to the Small Business Administration’s latest data:

• 355,467 manufacturing companies have ----------""""""""““NO””"""""""""""-------------- employees.

• 187,862 manufacturing companies have between 1-20 employees.
• 60,099 manufacturing companies have between 21-499 employees.
• 3,813 manufacturing companies have more than 500 employees

Overall, 75.3% of manufacturing companies have fewer than 20 employees.

The C.E.O is a revolutionary design to the modern 2stroke motor. The design has been worked on, developed and redesigned many times since the 80’s when ESR first tested it. Don’t understand it? Well here is a quick laymen’s description of what’s going on. On a 2 stroke during the up stroke fresh fuel/air is pushed out the exhaust. It’s the expansion chambers job to push that fresh charge back into the combustion chamber. This is where matching the pipe to the porting is so important. With the C.E.O. dished piston top, instead of pushing that fresh charge out the exhaust it forces it into the center of the piston. This is optimizingthe efficiency of your fuel/air charge when it’s “off the pipe” allowing the motor to still run optimal even when your not in the Goldilocks zone of the pipe and porting matching perfect. This drastically broadens the power band, and truly turns your big bore kit into the “4 stroke killer”

Mine has a great kick in the last 2K RPM level, maybe he set it up wrong? Mine is not the CEO, just a Standard Kit.
