Does my cylinder need to be replated?

Compression was around 150 lbs on the 1995 CR250 so I took it apart.

I cannot feel anything but the discoloring around the exhaust port makes me wonder if that is plating work through.

Doesn’t look like anything major. Depends what kind of rebuild you are going for. Top performance like new or just want the bike to run

Looks like the plating is worn off around the exhaust port. As CarlinoJoe stated, what is your end game? If you want to do it right, strip the cylinder & send it out to a reputable plating company & have them match a new piston while they do it. While you wait for the 400.00 bill, clean all your powervalve parts. What about the bottom end? Disassemble & inspect, no sense doing all that top end work if the bottom end is ready to let go.

Thanks guys. I have not take the bottom end apart. There is no upward or downward play in the crank. Before this the bike shifted fine too. I figured it should be replated. I just did not really know.
