I thought to myself as i was doing some matinence on my 2018 Honda CRF125FB, does moving the handle bars foward give me a better "attack position"? Does this theory work?

It helps me, but then again my arms are so long I can tie my shoes without bending over. WoohooGrinning (Well, not quite).

It depends on your body shape. For me, I like more room in the cockpit, for sure.

Mine are rolled back pretty much always, maybe neutral. Depends on the bike, riding style, and how you fit the bike.

Keeping my arse as far forward as possible always helps.

It makes the bike harder to turn in my opinion on corners so I'd say yes it may make it more stable and a better attack position but you will be sacrificing turning ability. Try going from way forward to way in and you will quickly feel the difference. I personally can go as fast as I want going straight but it's faster turning I desire so I like my bars pretty much at the 0 setting give or take one line. much off of there doesn't feel right to me.

Rolling yours bars forward may make you "push" the bars in corners leading to the front end climbing in ruts or washing out. I suggest finding bars that are a good height and sweep for you to be able to roll them back in the clamps slightly. I line mine up in sync with the rake of the forks and slightly roll them back towards me. Doing this made the bars feel slightly more in my lap when up on the tank in corners and made me feel like I had better control of the bike.

Having mine rolled back is way better than forward. Gotta try and see for yourself

Funny, I am experimenting with this as well. I have a 2016 yz250f (stock bars in --0-- position) and got a new 2020 yz250f and the stock bars in the same position but the ---0--- position was much further forward on the 2020 for some reason. I like it better so far and actually moved my 2016 to the ---1---- position (forward) which is the same as the 2020 but have yet to ride it that way. To be fair the 2020 just turns better so I really need to try the 2016 to see how it works for me.

Only thing having your bars rolled forward more than neutral helps with is looking like some vet rider standing straight up rocking a set of 2 inch risers and Steg Pegz while they go on and on about how good that set up is for riding😂😂😂😂
I’ve heard guys feed me so much BS and excuses about the fact they are just lazy and have shit body position and technique.
