Has anyone had any issues cutting there side panel like the factory team does? I don’t want to burn a hole through my boot. (Picture for reference below)

It looks cool but if you look at the Star bikes they have a heat shield on the muffler, I would assume to stop the boot melting happening

Yep, the FMF heat shield is to stop boots from melting.

The number plate melts if you don’t cut it off there. Boot melts if you do

UPDATE
For anyone wanting to try this on their 19-22 bike I have put about 8 hours on the bike and haven’t had a single issue while ridding, I did however burn my boot a tiny bit while sitting on the bike after a moto and my boot was pressed against the exhaust other than that no issue!

If you get an RS-12 Yoshi Exhaust they make a heat shield for it now. Might work for other pipes too

Did you trim this tab on the left side at all?

Just curious why people are trimming the side panels. I have no issues with mine and there is better grip with the plastics and graphics being there as opposed to a subframe.

I have done only three laps with yz250f 2020, and my Tech 7s got stuck in somewhere at least twice. If I remember correctly, it was the right side boot. Guess that could be one reason

Ok, interesting. I have the Cycra side panels and they have an additional area of plastic. That may be the reason I've had no issues. I have also ridden with tech 10s and fox instinct boots with no problems. I would suggest the Cycra side panels as a possible solution.

Ran it today without a heat shield and no problems. I don’t think my boot even touched it much, but the PC muffler seems to be a little more tucked than the FMF. Either way, I’m stoked! No more boot grabbing the plastic, and I don’t think it’s going to wreck my exhaust or boots too bad👍🏻
