Sorry to see that. Looks like it could possibly be a crevice from a not so perfect weld. Might be able to grind it down and reweld. For extra confidence you could have an X-ray done to see how deep the crack is. Not sure how the cost of that compares to a new frame is though. if the crack isn’t just a surface crack I wouldn’t bother welding.

Dang I have the same bike. Did you look inside the neck to see if it went through?

Really tough to tell. If you are nervous about it, take it to a welder with a good rep....The good thing about steel is that it is not difficult to repair.

Any reputable welder should be able to fix that and probably make it stronger than before.

Non-issue. Find a good welder and have it fixed, it'll be better than new.

Before you have it welded I would contact KTM customer service 13 and 14 they were having problems with the frames breaking at the foot pegs and they were replacing them. never seen one break at the steering head. doesn't cost you anything to make a phone call. They will want your old one back for the VIN number they won't issue a new frame till they have it.

Yeah I'm trying to contact them, but I don't expect anything as I'm second owner of the bike. But I still have some hope. I heard only good things about KTM customer service and this frame should never crack like that.

This is my first bike and it's a hell of a nightmare, every time I'm working on it, I'm finding new problems. Gonna buy new one next time for sure.
