Couple YZ125 questions

Hey guys, I'm just curious if anyone else has seen any of these two issues before. I have a buddy with 3 '03 125s and as I'm going through them I have found 2 have carb slides that are chipped or broken, and one bike actually snapped the counter shaft on the clutch side of the cases. I owned an '02 for almost 9 years and I never had any of these issues until after I sold mine and the buyer called me 4 months later saying the carb slide broke apart. Just curious on everyone's thoughts and opinions.

Very common for the TMX slides to crack from snapping the throttle closed.

Is there an upgrade or a fix besides don't snap the slide? Those things aren't cheap!

Yamaha charges an arm and leg for slides. I picked up a honda slide for my 01 125. Same cutaway and all for 50 bucks. I believe it was for the 03 cr125. It is a tmx38 without the tps 5.75 cutaway.
