Does anybody use a cordless impact? I have a makita that would make it sooo easy to take out bolts especially subframe bolts and things that are tighter..

I use one all the time. No issue with it. You can use them to tighten bolts also. I start bolts by hand, to eliminate the possibility of cross threading. Then, I snug it with the rattle gun, and give a final torque by hand.

So you have a impact that would make things easier and instead of trying it out, you seek advice on a message board?

Mostly to remove. I don't think they are a very good deal for 6mm threaded bolts.

If I'm in a real hurry, I'll remove them with a cordless impact drill, but back on with a T-handle or wrench.

One of my favorite tools ever. T-handles gather dust now..............

This. It's one of those things that once you do it that way, you can't imagine NOT doing it that way.

I have used my cordless impact for years and no problems with stripping or crossthreading. I use a Porter Cable 20V, I do not attempt to torque the bolt but run them in and check them with a T handle but 9 times out of 10 they are tight. Never had one back off while riding either

I just start by hand, T-handle to run it in, then a torque wrench to finish. And yes, I torque EVERYTHING

I use one to remove bolts and nuts, but not to install them as you have no control on the amount of torque being applied.

so you even torque the plastic bolts to the 7ft pounds then wonder why the snap?

Only if you don't mind all your bolts getting beat up and the zinc plating getting hammered off in short order...It's one thing to use them in construction, where you are installing a bolt/screw ONE time, but repeated use makes them look like crap...
