Has anyone attempted to cerakote clear their expansion pipe on a two stroke to prevent rusting/oiling?

Nice looking pipe! I was scotchbright-ing my pipe last night in the rain, thinking about this too, lol.

I have done a few. I think it really helps for the back side where its hard to clean but I do wear through it with my knee.

Did you use cerakote clear? That coating is supposed to be tough as nails.

Thanks! I’ve ordered a kit with air gun and clear coat. I’ll let you know how it works.

Can't remember if I used this one, but I think it was not the gloss sheen. It's more of a matte finish.

I would have thought anything in a can wouldn't hold up and would yellow? I see it says it won’t peel, flake or chip but nothing about yellowing. I’ve already purchased the cerakote kit so will see how that goes.

Does the smooth finish on the pipe allow cerakote or clear to stick? Just curious. I like the idea.

For best results parts should be bead blasted but we don't want our pipes blasted so yes the smooth finish does hurt it a bit. I am certified with cera coat and I have done my personal pipes. As I said I have a problem with me knee rubbing the finish off, not right away thought. Another good use I have found is clear ceramic under the fenders and back side of shrouds and number plates. Dirt and mud falls off or washes off easier in my opinion.

Yes, it goes on very think, .5 mil wet but as long as there is a profile like brushed metal it will anchor well. I can see that over time your knee might rub a small area but I like the idea of retaining to overall brushed look.
