Carbon skid plate vs plastic skid plate

I am looking to see if anyone has experience with both type of skid plates. I love the look of the carbon fibre plates but I am worried about how long they will look nice and the durability of them. Will they crack ect. Only reason I ask is that I have seen a few second hand and they seem to have cracks where they contact the frame underneath where the paddock stand would go. Obviously this might be after a lot of hours. Any advice would be great. Bike is a 2019 SXF 250.

The Pro Carbon guard on my RMZ450 has lasted quite well. It dulls off after around 10-20 hours, but can easily be given its 'shine' back with a quick flash of GT85 or Maxima protective coat etc.
The downside is they do crack, I think its luck of the draw as to how long they last. Mine has stayed solid underneath but has a few minor cracks on 1 side from impacts/rocks etc.

The plastic trays from acerbis are great value... I could definately never go back to aluminum

I have 3 choices really.
1. Pro carbon guard £140
2. Genuine ktm guard £140
3. Wait for acerbis to release their guards. Probably £60

Order the stock skid from the factory edition 18.5 450sxf. It is a composite that is super light and looks trick. Will bolt up without any issues.

They make exactly the same one for the 250/350. It just looks kind of weird in the photos I've seen. Like is got scratches on it.

Ive built a few of the FE at work and the plates are absolutely jaw dropping on quality and fit. I wish I could find one that would mount to my YZ.

Somewhat, but bad pictures. Best one that I can find. We don't have one at the shop or I would go take pics myself.

I had a pro carbon one, It took a good beating and survived very well i thought, after maybe 60-70 mx hours it had worn away at the frame rail parts but I was pretty happy with that, I used a cycra after which snapped after a 1 or 2 days, I'd get the pro carbon again if I needed one

I used the Acerbis skidplate on my KTMs. Best bang for the buck out there. Now i use the GYTR on my Yamaha.

I have a Acerbis plastic, Light speed carbon(own 2) ,Hyde plastic ,Leo Vince carbon and P3 carbon. I’d love to get pro carbon stuff across the board.
I view a Skid plate as a wear item. So replacing one comes with the territory.
Hyde plastic the toughest period. Acerbis great value. Leo Vince the best overall in appearance. P3 thick bit Custoner service wasn’t stellar. Light speed fits great, durable but don’t expect much interaction with them. My .02
