Crashed yesterday an I think it is when this happened. Looks to be about half way through.
Is this fixable if so is there a certian type of person to take it to that would do a correct job?

If I don’t do local anybody have a good place to ship it to?

Just wondering not as important are these dents fixable?

Yeah, that could be welded. Is it stainless or nickel plated? They will probably wrap a thin piece of flat stock and weld it on as a gusset.

Those dents aren’t that bad.

If you're not mixing gas, you're not haulin ass.

Thanks for the link. I’m gonna check them out. My 03 is a 1 off year and it’s hard to find these things. Only thing I can find is a plated pipe and I’m not a fan of those.

Thanks guys

Dents are easy to remove yourself. Fill pip with water to where the water u-tube has the dents submerged. Put pipe in a freezer and as water freezes it will expand and op dents out like magic.

And it also splits welds. So make sure you have a welder on hand and you fab skills are up to par.

I’m gonna send it to the pipe repair place. Or at least call them. Their Instagram is amazing. Would love for the pipe to look new ish again

Yup definitely fixable and if your sending it out might as well have the dents fixed but otherwise they aren't bad dents. Performance wise the dents would have to be way worse than that and are usually more critical the closer to the flange

There is a couple other small dents. Honestly don’t care too much about the dents I bought the pipe with them and have used it for 2 years like that. But with the crack it give me a reason to have somebody make it look a little better

4/30/2018 7:01 AM

The crack looks like the pipe was under side stress like not aligned right.

4/30/2018 7:49 AM

Could be. I aligned it the best I can. I think it’s from a wreck. I went down pretty hard and caught the left side of the pipe on the ground because there is a bunch of scratches. Plus now it was really loud and it was not that loud before I wrecked.

I think I would start trolling Ebay if your bike is a one off year and try to find another pipe, even a stocker. Suzuki stuff is a little scarcer than Honda and Yamaha stuff of that era. I would definitely find someone to repair that though.

The older I get, the faster I was.

I have the stock pipe also so I’m good. The pipe repair ppl should be able to fix it.

Did the muffler take a whack too?

5/1/2018 8:45 PM

I don’t think so. I should prob check it. But it fell on the left side of the expansion chamber. The whole wreck was a little fuzzy tho so not exactly sure what happened.

I've had great luck with brazing nickle pipes in the past. I did my son's a year ago and it's still holding. That's with repeated bashing in brutal single track. I've had to blow serious dents out of his probably 5 times also, and the braze still holds pressure.
