Don't think so. AFAIK those bikes had some real issues with overheating. Bigger radiators, better water pump and hi pressure cap are all your friends, unless you can afford a newer bike, which would be the best solution, as 04 KXFs are not exactly known for outstanding reliability.

Is the carb jetted lean? That would cause overheating issues. Otherwise if your spark plug is gapped right and your coolant is of good quality you should be fine. Not sure where youre riding but modern 4 strokes dont like slow woods riding. Maybe look at some 2 strokes if thats the case.

Nope...riding too slow/getting stuck is usually the case. (I own a 2004 RMZ250...it's a KX250F with yellow plastics) I run a Boyesen Supercooler, Engine Ice coolant, and stock radiators. I normally race GNCC and local harescramble events. The only times I have problems with overheating are when I get stuck at a bottleneck, or I'm riding very poorly and getting stuck on my own. I'm running aftermarket cams and I have run a ported head and Athena 290 kit without problems. What fuel are you running? (poor quality fuel leads to detonation which will also cause overheating). I run ethanol free 91 in the bike in both configurations.

A worn cam chain can cause the over heating issue to be worst. Remember that any time your engine is not running properly it can generate excess heat.

X2...forgot about that....thanks Paw Paw. A worn cam chain retards cam timing. Retard the exhaust cam timing and itll run really, really hot. Stock 2004-2006 KXF/RMZ cam chains were about as stiff as a rubber band...they wear out pretty quick.
