Was checking the Keefer Tested pod cast where he mentions this mod in helping free up the rear suspension on the KTM's. Basically you ditch the KTM axle with the threaded axle block for a new gen CRF rear axle.
Anyone try this mod? If so what were your results?

I have the one from ride engineering and love it. I find it easier to align the wheel in the swingarm.

Did you notice anything suspension wise/handling?

I would be lying if I said I did, but then again I didn't ride the systems back to back. I swapped it out over the winter. Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

I find it easier to adjust and the locking nut is better also. I could not feel a difference myself.

Take it to the limit, one more time!

I almost bought this setup as well, do to the movement of the axle/ chain alignment block when tightening down the axle nut, makes adjusting the chain a pita. I just take a 6 mm socket & put it in between the block & swingarm now when tightening axle nut. I check my axle nut between every moto, when bike was new it used to come loose often.

I went with the CRF axel and Yoshimura axel blocks. Can’t say I notice a difference on the track, but I like it better with install because The oem setup is weird how it threads into both axel blocks.

I don’t understand scientifically how a CRF axel can help suspension. Would be interested to hear.

I have ran the Honda axle & ride blocks for a couple years. The Honda axle is thinner & the ride blocks make axle adjustment easier.
What I felt switching at the track Back to Back ride , was It felt like about a 1/2 click less LS compression & rebound
was taken from the rear suspension. I also felt it gave a slight bit more ft tire traction.
I went from Honda axle to KTM & immediately switched back to Honda set up.
This mod is very subtle & some may not notice anything. I had the Honda axle laying around & then purchased the Ride blocks . May of not done it other wise.
If you are a rider who can tell a 1psi tire psi change & 1 click of compression try it. But if you are not sensitive you may never notice. & be $100.00 lighter in the wallet after buying the axle, nut ,washer & ride blocks.

What year CRF axle did you use?

Use the Ride Engineering blocks. You can buy the complete setup from their site including the correct Honda axle.

So I take it that the Ride Engineering axle blocks fit the Honda axle? My stock ones are a pain to line up. First KTM.

Yes, they are made to fit as if it was OEM.
