Bike hitting rev limiter after crash

Went riding at southwick yesterday and ended up crashing coming up one of the jumps. Bike washed out and when it landed on its side the throttle got turned and the bike ended up on rev limiter for a about 5 seconds before I could run up to it and hit the kill switch. Anything I should worry about since the bike was on its side when it happened? Seemed to run okay after. if the bike is tipped over can it starve itself of oil? I had just done an oil change and the oil level was a bit high.

You’re fine, nothing to worry about. 5 minutes would be another story.

I worry that being on its side and sort of facing up hill a bit that the motor may have been starved of oil.

Nothing to worry about. If anything more oil traveled thru the motor being sideways. Im surprised it stayed on though. The efi bikes have tip over sensors that kill the bike after 3 seconds.

I would have though it would have shut off too. But maybe because it was facing up hill a little bit.

Dude theres nothing wrong with your bike. The entire purpose of a rev limiter is to prevent engine damage.

I understand that, My concern is due to how the bike was positioned that it may have starved of oil while on rev limiter

read the comments. just trying to relay that its not the rev limiter that concerns me, its the fact that the bike was completely on its side when it happened.

We are just trying to relay that your bike is fine. You can literally run that bike with zero oil for 1 FULL min and not damage a thing.

Your bike is fine. It will have picked up oil ok and even if it didnt, the reisdual oil already lubricating the engine will be doing it's job. Do you think factory teams swap out an engine if one of their rider goes down mid moto and the bike keeps ticking over for a few seconds before it gets picked up?

5 seconds is nothing. It's not like all of the oil will vanish just because the bike is laying down.
