If you change the oil, do the flakes come back?

Hummm, likes it’s not normal. I just can’t think of many aluminum parts in the engine.

Why would the clutch hub wear all of a suddden like that?

I’m worried it’s a bearing or maybe the cam chain wearing on something.

The steering pins in the inner hub are steel. The cam chain is brand new. Smile

But I’m wondering maybe something with install or the tensioner is incorrect. Just brainstorming here to what can produce aluminum like that, no shavings, just dust/flakes.

I agree. The flakes did begin before I changed the cam chain. Seems odd that the inner clutch hub is wearing like that too

Looks like case material...look for something rubbing or wearing into the cases somewhere..bolt backing out.? I had a drive gear bolt back out and rub on the clutch case to create flakes very similar.... It was not a Ktm but aluminum cases are aluminum cases....

Bearings are steel. Aluminum flakes from from these things: clutch, engine cases, cylinder, piston, cylinder head.

Nothing is rubbing against, if something is then its inside the cases.

The only thing on the clutch that is aluminium is the inner basket, plates are steel

Wasn't ther a recall on the '16-17 350 addressing the primary nuts backing off and coming loose? I've seen this happen and rub the right side case and leaving aluminum flakes. Might wants check it out.

Maybe try to run dedicated MOTORCYCLE oil in your motorcycle. Its designed for bikes, and Auto oil is designed for cars/trucks. Just a thought

Castrol has dedicated motorcycle oil, both my 16 and 19 kx owner's manuals recommend it.
On the flakes, i agree to look into that primary bolt, that would definatly leave those type of shavings.

Take a look at your cams. Sometimes if the caps arent tightened right after a valve adjustment or its not getting enough oil they can dig into the cylinder head

Ok so you narrowed it down to your clutch. Replace it so we stop playing the guessing game.
