Any CR2 gurus that know the differences from these years ? Been looking for a clean 93 to restore or one that has already been done. Haven't found a good candidate in my 5 yr. local CA search.

It's been a few yrs. since I owned one & don't recall what the differences were. Thinking about looking at this 94 model on CL as it appears to be a good foundation for a restore.

I do recall they changed the head angle on the steel chassis so it didn't turn as well as the 93 model. I think it also had some refinements, but don'r recall other than some oem cyl. port changes.

Besides the frame geometry, they went to those forks with the “vegetable strainers” as MXA called them, and if memory serves the muffler had a stinger instead of the cone end cap that they had for years.
I switched to 250’s in 94, but my dad had both a 93 and 94 250. I didn’t notice a big difference between the two.

Forks changed from Showa to kyb...still over damped beaters ....steering kicked out in an attempt to increase high speed stability....still busy at speed but steering quickness not as accurate. Shock was passable. The rest of the bike was pretty much the 93... Totally awesome.... I had a new 93 in the fall of 92, kept it until fall,of 96, awaiting the awesome aluminum framed 97 model......

It's coming back to me now. I now remember the suspension was changed from the Showas to KYB. Also went from the 93 to 97 model & regret that decision to this day..

For 1399 obo thats a reasonable start. Check the frame, swingarm, wheels for cracks. Make sure Theres coolant in it lol

Also id say to check the oegs ive looked at a few that clearly must have had 100s and 100s of hrs on them as the peg mounts were so sloppy and worn the pegs had like 1/3 inch of play in them and sagged quite a lot lol

Traded my amazing 96 for the 97. Worst decision I ever made. That POS 97 was truly the Suzuki TM400 of the 90’s...
