Got this bike free. Thought, hoped for a quick top end fix and flip. Water pump and radiators seem to have this gunk everywhere. What caused this and what should be used to clean it up?
-thanks men.
looks like what happens when you mix two different types of coolants... Best way to get it out of the radiators is have them dipped (might be easier to find a descent set of used ones or aftermarket ones)... as for the bike, I guess you could try flushing the system... but it’s probably trapped in the coolant ports of the head and cylinder as well... the correct way would be to disassemble the cooling system / top end and hand clean it... Id also pressure check the system too once it’s all cleaned...
I would start by rinsing with a garden hose at low pressure then 100% disassemble top end and cases and thorally clean 100% of it out of every possible crevice. If there is any left it could clog, overheat and blow the motor.
White vinegar is an effective cooling system cleaner, though I've only used it when the engine is capable of running. Make sure to thoroughly flush it out afterwards.
As said above it’s more then just the rads, is the head, pump, ect. Try flushing with hose and see what you can do.
