53/14 chain guide relocation

Hey guys, wanted to try installing a 53/14 gear combo on my 2017 CRF. I hear that it lets the rear end go through the stroke a little freer and the lower tension flex helps with wear.

Only problem is with a sprocket that big in the rear it will eat through the chain guide like butter.

Was thinking of relocating or finding a kit for this. Has anyone done this mod? And if so could you explain with some pictures.

Thanks in advance!

Not a direct answer to your question but it might be easier to go 13/49. It's almost the same ratio at 3.77 vs 3.79

Although what john stated is true as far as ratio... the bigger combo does help with that facts that you stated. I found that my rear suspension functioned better running larger front and rear. My suggestion would be to run the axle all the way to the rear. If more clearence is required just notch out the guide.

I run 14/52 on my 15 crf for this same reason. There is enough material on the stock chain guide to oval out the mounting holes. Been fine for years.
