450 overheating.

Going to sound like a stupid question, but are 450's more prone to overheating than 250's? I picked up a super clean, low hour - but my first 450 this weekend and when i let it run for about 5 minutes in the garage, it started to drip a bit out of the over flow. My 250 i can start and let run in the garage for what seems like forever and it never overheats...….

My 250f heats up quickly, as quick as my sons 450

Unless you have a fan blowing air over the radiators while running in your garage , it is not a good idea to let them run so long. Air flow is needed.

Depends what bike you have but most Japanese 450's only come with a 1.1 radiator cap stock. A 1.6 cap won't make the engine run any cooler but it will increase the boiling point to help you not lose coolant. I just bought a 1.6 cap on eBay. You shouldn't let a bike run on the stand with no airflow longer than about 3 minutes.

5 mins idling is too long. 1 or 2 mins is all you need.
