Im getting back into moto after a brief hiatus of about a year. Still have a really nice YZ125 and a Yz250 that I seem to not be able to ride as good anymore.

Im gonna trade the 250 on a new 250f, and I am sold on the yamaha. Is there anything I should know about it before I take it to the track? I plan on greasing link bearings, and maybe changing the oil.

There seems to be issues with stuff getting past the air filter on the yamahas. Not sure if its an issue on the 2020 but something to keep an eye on.

Get the Twin Air Powerflow kit, this is something i recommend to both the 250 and 450.

As for maps, i like the Keefer Free Feeling one. I will try a 49 rear sprocket if it would help me on faster tracks (the Yamaha lacks top end compared to the KTM).

Heard about weak camchains and buttery gearboxes, I can not confirm any of it.

I’ve ridden one at a Yamaha ride day and I can tell you it turns way better than my 2016. Don’t know about reliability other than the air box was only an issue on the 2019.

Got a 2020 and at 11 hours havent had an issue with the air box ie getting stuff past the filter, I think they changed the filter from the 19 not 100% on that. The keefer free revving map is awesome! And the bike as a whole is awesome! Did heatcycles on mine and changed the oil and oiled the air filter and she was ready to rip!
I run the oil for 5 hours and change it out and do the oil filter at the same time
