I’ve been riding this bike since December and have put 54 hours on it. I was gonna change the piston at forty hours, but got lazy, plus it was running so good. Well, it was still running good and I had some free time , so I got her done this week.

I stuck with stock Yamaha piston and rings for replacement. The old piston and rings looked good, a bit of wear on the exhaust skirt, but more than good to go more hours. The valves hadn’t moved at all, no adjustments needed, cam chain fine, a bit of dirt on the outer butterfly of the throttle body, cleaned it up and put her back together again.

I’m going to change it again at about 50-55 hours next time. I was impressed with the condition of the stock stuff after the hours I put on it and am pretty pleased with the durability of this bike.

Photos?
Was going to photo, but it looked new. Seriously, another mechanic had to point out the wear on the piston it was so minimal.
