Have a 2019 YZ250F with 27hrs on it (bought new 1 year ago). At about 22hrs it stalled on me while exiting a corner. Didn't think too much of it until it happened a couple more times a week later. A friend suggested replacing the spark plug because his son experienced similar symptoms with his 2014 yz250f and the plug change fixed it. So I did that and the next time I rode it stalled on the 3rd lap after landing from a jump. It started right up and I tried to continue to ride it but any throttle position below half throttle the engine would try to die.

Sometime before this issue started I changed to non-ethanol fuel with octane booster. Maybe not the smartest decision but have have had multiple issues on previous bikes when sitting for extended periods of time.

Anyway, thinking this might be my issue I drained all the fuel from the fuel tank and fuel lines and refilled with 93 octane pump gas. Oh and installed another new plug as a precaution. Rode yesterday and from the start the bike seemed to be running 'dirty' below half throttle. I was able to put in 3 rides and then on the fourth the bike stalled again. It quickly restarted and I continued to ride it in the upper rpm's for another two laps until it tried to stall again, in the elevated rpm range.

At this point I don't believe the issue to be related to the fuel, unless maybe the injector is partially clogged? Not sure that's even a possibility.

No codes have been thrown on the power tuner app.
Motor is stock with a Dr. D exhaust that was installed after a couple hours. Running the TP map.
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Clean injector, replace fuel filter and check fuel vent lines for them having bug homes in them.

My 19 Honda had a similar issue with this before. Bike would stall if I did not have the throttle twisted a little bit or fast idle know pulled. It would start but immedialtely stall. Ran pretty lurchy when I forced it to stay running. Bike had an ever so slightly clogged injector. Hit it with cleaner and air and problem went away. Replaced it with a new one so I can properly clean the old one. I will add injector cleaning to the to do list once a year.
Check the injector then fuel pump.

Thanks for the replies. I cleaned the injector yesterday but won't be able to test it until this weekend. I also ordered a Moose Racing fuel pump rebuild kit in case I need to replace the fuel filter. If I get the kit in time I'll pull the pump apart, inspect and at the least replace the filter before the weekend.

Sounds like fuel pump issues

Was the problem ever found? I also have a stalling issue. I noticed that sometimes it stalls on somewhat hard landings. It will stall, then after a few seconds (4-5) can manage to restart it while rolling with the clutch from momentum.

I first just replaced the fuel filter as it was clogged. Bike ran better but still not right. Bit the bullet and replaced the entire fuel pump and that fixed my issues.

I reckon the pump got weak trying to pull fuel through the filter and maybe ate some debris. Good to know you fixed it

Glad you fixed it. How does a fuel pump go bad at 27 hours?
