Is there an easy way to install a new timing chain? Having one hell of a time getting it over the cam gears.

The cams can’t be bolted in, there is not enough slack to stretch the chain... I’ve always set the chain on the gears with the cams at a slight angle then placed the cams into their journals... check the timing marks and if need be move the cams accordingly....

Getting the new chain on is the problem. Same length as old. Just very stubborn. Do not have cap on.

Yes . Cap's were not on. Just having a difficult time getting the chain over cam gears. And of course doing it without throwing timing off.

If the chain is the same length then there should be no problems... it just may take you a couple tries... sometimes you can set one cam correct then just walk the other cam until it’s correct...
