It’s normal. When a thumper is hot, it needs the throttle turned a bit to fire up. Our bikes do not have a choke, the button we push opens the throttle a bit, myself I just open the throttle myself and voila fires up no problem in gear or not hot or cold
Spot on! My 2012 yamaha 450 if you just take the slack out of the throttle..boom! fires right up. If you leave the throttle alone she is not going to fire when hot.

Just a quick update, fitting the Twin Air Pro filter kit totally cured the problem, nice bit of kit.

Shame Yamaha can't supply the OE bike with a filter that actually does the job, saying that keeps the people at
Twin Air in work.

Something to note, not really related to filters or fuel clamps, but the bottom radiator hose is very exposed on these bikes. I damaged a head because if the hose being damaged during a race, spewing all the coolant out. I have since added protection around the hose. Probably worthwhile considering.

I posted this in another YZ450F problem thread on here

These black plastic deflectors are what the Factory Yamaha guys were running at Unadilla to prevent packing the airbox with roost. Barcia's mechanic didn't know who made them, but it looks like it could be fabbed up in a few minutes and riveted on.
