Like the topic says... Who or what have you done. Seen something about removing the bottom bolt on the large engine mount on the frame side... Does this work and is it safe to do?

There are a few options regarding aftermarket engine mounts. They are a very popular mod for that bike. I know that you can get a different frame feel by adjusting the torque specs on them too but it's probably not as profound as an aftermarket mount.

An 18 I assume you have some hours on it, my 19 felt so stiff for about 5 hours. More than my 15, Re valve and link helped the most, was thinking about getting some mounts as well

What suspension are you running? Also different style mounting hardware can change the feel.

I did stainless A2 fasters on all my mounts with silicon bronze flat washers, and tourqed them to reasonable spec, and it brought the bike home as far as regular Japanese bike frame feel.

Also, i had siliconed my handlebars.

Assuming the suspension is set up for you and correct springs.

I’d start with an engine mount kit from Works Chassis Lab. Maybe you can reduce torque on the swingarm bolt like we do on the Hondas. -5 to -8 the OEM spec.

If you go wcl mounts go with the medium option on the lower mounts. The soft mounts gave me a weird almost too flexy feeling. Felt like it flexed and then released under certain instances. I rode with just the wcl uppers and liked that better than stock and better than with the soft lowers. Never tried and medium lowers but im betting it would work better.

Taking out one bolt from the frame hanger is a common trick. You may also play around the torque setting; for example if OEM calls for 34 ft/lbs, go down to say 29 ft/lbs and reevaluate. If that has no perceived effect, look into works chassis lab and take to ML512 and recommended options.

Thank you all so much. So i will take it one step at a time. Lower torque to start off with. Then will try removing the bolt. Then if i do not like that i will order different mounts and go from there. All sound advice an much appreciated... Thanks guys

Any luck with this? I assume when they say the lower bolt they mean the upper mount on the back of the motor to the frame. Not the front mount?

Sending my 18 Rmz450 suspension to Pro-Action for a revalve this week! Pretty excited because I really enjoy the bike, but the suspension wears me out and the forks I feel give me arm pump.

From what others have said, it seems they had the same issues until they got a revalve.

30 hours. I’m 180lbs, 6”3

I took the bolts out and it helped it flex a lot better, it did loose a little bit of the positive steering but everything has a trade off, I ended up modifying my stock mounts in the end, will take some photos tonight.

That would be great if you could post some pics. Thanks

Thank you! Did you notice a difference with them modified? And I see you are using all 3 bolts again?

Yes 3 bolts again, not as drastic as a bolt removed but noticeable on some tracks, slap down landings especially. Grips make the biggest difference, also filling your bars with silicone.
A fork revalve definitely helps
