2018 Ktm 150 frame issue

Just picked up a new 150 sx and love it, besides one issue. I have a total of 3.4 hours on the bike and the paint/powder coating is starting to chip off around the shock mount and two of the motor mounts. Is this a typical issue for the steel frames of the ktm/huskys? Also what is the coating, paint or powder?

It's normal, and good luck keeping the rust away once the paint starts to chip from several common paint chipping areas. It's pretty upsetting as it can makes a new or low hour bike not look so low hour.

Bummer that chipped. KTM is powder coat. They sell a touch up paint you can buy.

Unless you mask off those areas where you torque bolts down, that is going to happen with powder coat. You're better off having raw metal mating there instead of uneven coatings.
