Getting ready to do the top end on my 150. I've noticed vertex has 2 kits, one being A and the other B. I'm guessing I should go with the B kit? Also does anyone recommend anything besides oem or vertex?

thanks

Im guessing the a&b kits have to do with piston diameter? If so you need to measure your cylinder so your piston is the right size. Theres a clearance spec in your service manual. Dont guess.

How many hours on your bike? I run the “A” piston for 25-50 hours. But if you can measure you can be by the book.

Check to see what’s currently in the bike before you order.

18 hours, was planning on doing it at 25. Will tear down and measure.

Thanks

All the '16-'18 150's come with the smaller "size 1". The larger size 2 is .0005" larger and is used when the cylinder starts to wear so you can bring the piston to cylinder clearance back to spec. At 18hrs, I'd still use the size 1.

I’d assume at your 25 hour rebuild, size 1 or A will be what you want. Like stated above it’s such a small difference just used for wearing cylinder wall.

Use the PulpMX code “pulpmxshow2018” when buying from vertex. They have everything you need. Here’s the info for Brad who got my order dialed last time.

Thanks for the info Dan! Also thanks for the hookup on the pc pipe I got from you awhile back.

No worries dwilli150! If you have any questions on the top end rebuild, give me a shout if you still have my number. I use the size 1 OEM piston kit that comes with all the gaskets. Stock, all the 150's come with two base gaskets stacked (0.40mm and 0.25mm) for a total of 0.65mm. This gives you a deck height of around .0025" (piston below cylinder deck @ TDC. I really like the OEM piston kits as they come with everything you need.
