2017 KTM 150 SX Weird rev limiter

Okay so I recently picked up a 17 150 SX. It’s for my stepson. He has been complaining of it cutting in and out if it’s not wide open. I’ve only ridden it in the sand and noticed in 2nd it ran like crap until it cleaned out then all good. I thought it was maybe just super rich everywhere. I put in the JD kit while at the track today and it seems to run cleaner everywhere except mid revs mid throttle just before the power comes on. It’s like a rev limiter and the bike surges. Super annoying coming out of tight corners where I have to get off the pipe. Any ideas? Going to be pulling the top end apart in the next couple days just for a routine inspection and piston change. Anything I should be looking for in the PV?

Check the power valve is moving smooth. Seems to be a few posts lately about that problem.

If th power valve arms are working smoothly...get a 5.5 or 5.75 slide. My 18 TC125 would stumble mid range on acceleration,,,it was a rich condition. I cut slide from 4 to 5.5 and whole new bike...smooth rpm building from bottom to top.

The PV seems to be sticking 2-3 out of every 20 times I open and close it. I’ve been reading about the F1 Moto arms and I’ll give them a try. If they don’t work I’ll look into modifying the slide. Thanks for the replies guys.

I had the F1 moto power valve arms on my 2016 TC125 and made a big difference. The power valve worked a lot smoother.

Update: F1 Moto PV Arms are the real deal. Wayyy better took it out the other day and no more surging. Ran clean everywhere. So if anyone else is having this issue I’d suggest them and shipping from Aus was faster than I thought it was going to be.

Did you try adjusting the tension on the square bolt on the right case? The more you unscrew it, the less hit and more bottom end it has. I like 1.5-1.75 turns in from all the way out
