I need some help identifying the issue I had.
I had been getting some compression kick back while trying to start the bike off and on for almost a year that i've owned the bike - then finally one day getting ready to ride I kicked the bike over and it kicked back and something within the kick start mechanism rebounded so hard that it cracked my case.
I know this is not the first time this has happened. Can anyone help identify this for me and if you had any luck getting help from Honda resolving this issue. Seems like a design flaw - and a shit load of money to fix.

I would suggest that you need to look into the cause of the kick back.
It is normally caused incorrect cam timing due to worn timing chain and or incorrect valve clearances.
