I’ve searched the site and come up with several different answers how many ounces of oil are you guys running in you 17-18 crf with filter change? I’ve heard to add a lil more than the Manuel calls for. Thanks in advance

I run 39-40 ounces, which 4-5 oz more that the manual suggests.. I read yesterday on here that some guys are running 45 ounces. The clutch is definitely oil starved.

I always ran just a little more then what the manual said as read on here. Never had any issues or clutch issues.

I think it should be about 200cc more than what is stated in the manual. The manual calls for less, but that is too little for the clutch and it will not last with that little oil. You will see a lot of clutch failures using the amount stated in the manual. This has been true of Hondas for the last 12 years on the 450's. The earlier (02-09) 450's had a whole on the side of the case so that when you put the oil in the trans it would run out that whole when at factory spec's and for some reason that whole was not placed correctly and you actually had about 200 cc less oil than the trans and clutch needed. It seem the issues still exist today.
