Just got around to replacing my piston at 150 hours on the dot. How does it look? Doesn't seem to have much wear. Ran Shell Rotella since new.

I'd say that looks pretty good for 150hrs. Bet it would have made it many more.

cylinder looks great...piston definitely shows wear though. Did you put some calipers to it?

Looks like you were burning some oil. That's a lot of carbon buildup

Very impressive!

The carbon could just be bad fuel or if it’s oil, I’ve had valve guide seals wear. But that was on a 250SXF.

Are you going to replace the crank?

Overall it all looks good for that many hours.
O do suggest you checking the cylinder as I seem to see a ring wear ridge at the top of the cylinder and if so, it could cause issues when new rings are installed if it is no addressed.

Carbon build up might be from pump gas I use. I always run 91, but most times it's from a generic gas station(Not Mobil or Shell) like the gas station that's right near Pala Raceway.

After posting this, I did what everyone fears when they are putting a new piston in... I dropped the piston pin C-clip into the crankcase! I had the crank stuffed with paper towels and it managed to get by. I had to fish around with my magnetic tip pickup tool for over 20 minutes before I got it out. This tool is worth its weight in gold!

Both. I run blue in my street bike and white in my dirt bikes, but switch it up depending on what I have lying around in my garage.
