2013 crf 250r clutch problems

So I have a question about my crf, I’m changing the clutch plates an disks, went with the tusk I took the pressure plate off took 8 total out, I put 8 total plates in an there’s a gap between the shifter rod bearing an the pressure plate so when you pull the clutch in it’s super stiff an there’s not enough room for the rod to push the pressure plate out, is there supposed to be a spacer there or?
