My KTM 85 SXS won't shift up or down. It's stuck in gear and it's been like this for 2 months. Does anyone know how to fix this. It's been a big problem for me and I just can't figure it out.

The shifter does move but it won't switch gears.

You need to pull off the right side engine cover and determine wether the ratcheting mechanism is working properly. You do not have to split the cases to replace any of these parts. If those are all ok and working check that the shift drum clicks through all the gears while rotating the wheel.

KTM 85's have a lot going on with the shift mechanism. Like statet above if you remove the RH engine cover you will see what is going on more than likely. Then end of the shift shaft has a few pieces that can fail especially if assembled wrong. It also could be the piece on the end of the shift drum has come loose. There is a reason you sue locktite to hold it on...........
