2012 crf450 sump

My son overtightened the sump plug and has stuffed the thread. What is the best way to repair it. Thanks.

Clean the threads with a tap if you can, that may work. If not, helicoil or timesert.

Keep in mind that there is not very much case material at that location and can crack easy if the repair is rushed.
