Hi All ! I picked up a fairly low-hour '06 RMZ450. I'm going to pull the engine and want to go all thru it. For people with first-hand experience: Do you remember particular things to look for on this engine? Any problem areas to pay close attention to? This is going to be my first 4-stroke engine rebuild, so looking for help here! I'd assume the piston, cam chain. Thanks

These motors are known for cracking the cases at the kickstart gear
Don’t use hi compression piston or stainless valves with heavy duty spring kits
Oem valves and compression
In fact I’d do a leak down and check the valves
If leak down shows 10% or less and clearances are good I’d run it
Very good motors

I actually loved the 4 speed transmission, in my experience they were a very durable motor.

I thought the crankcase/kickstarter was more a 2008 & up thing but could be wrong I didn't have that issue on my '06
