2003 rm 250 case question

In the process of rebuilding my 2003 rm 250 and discovered a little damage from when the piston exploded and sent shrapnel in between the crank and the case. There looks to be a slight crack and a bit of bulging on the case but I’m not sure and would like a second opion on whether to run it or find another one. Parts for these rm’s seem pretty hard to find these days.

I'd just have a welder fill in the crack then grind off the high spots.

Yes, that can be welded then ground down & finished sanded like it was never there...the key is to use a welder experienced with motorcycle cases...proper cleaning of the case is critical for quality weld.
