Ive been swapping jets around the past few days and moving the needle but always have some kind of bog or a spudder on the top end. The carb is a 98 cr screw top.the slide is a 5.5. I do have the 7 slide it came with. I'm looking for a baseline setting for either slide. Just to get me started. (Elevation is 775-800ft)

Also the bike is giving me the feeling of a stuck power valve. (Btw I did check and the powervalve works fine.)

pull the reeds and post some pics, you can chase jetting the rest of your life and the reeds could be played, frayed, or chipped very easily- J

ps- a starting point (assuming this is a 38mm), 50 pilot, DDJ series (Sudco.com), and a 185 main

Just posted a reed pic. i had this setting about a year ago and I fouled plugs so I got away from this setting.

That plug sure show signs of being lean.

I have an 07 cr125 and i got specs off a guy that also had an 07. Right now i have a CCL needle on 2nd clip position, 52 pilot and 188 main, #7 slide on 2nd clip position. I am riding at about 45 degrees right now though so once weather warms up ill end up dropping to 50 pilot and 185 main. Prob should get a richer needle too, but i dont ride that often when its this cold. Carb is the Screw on top, 38 A/S.

I agree with PawPaw; Classic lean main jet. Look at your electrode and tip of the spark plug. The white color is a pretty strong indicator.
This would gel with your statement that you have a bog on top. Does it rev pretty well all the way up and then fall on it's face at WOT when the revs are high?
If so, that's too much air, not enough fuel. Go 2 sizes larger on the main and work your way back around to the other jets. You'll probably be too rich in the middle throttle openings and have to lean out the needle a position or two.
