Hello all,
I am in the process of building an 02 CR250. The bike doesn't have much time on it but does show the effects of not being ridden much.

I was changing the fork oil and installing new seals when I noticed that the cartridge rods both have numerous dark spots on them that look like rust. However if I'm not mistaken they are aluminum. They won't catch a nail anywhere but I did notice the fork rebounded really quickly so I'm assuming the rod seals are toast (no biggie) but that the pitting probably had something or everything to do with it.

So, what are my options? Is there any way to polish these without destroying them? Re-coating? New rods (is that something I can buy from a suspension shop)? i contemplated buying a used set of forks (since they're plentiful and realtively cheap) but I won't know what I'm getting and it might have the same issue.

Thanks for any help.
