2 stroke plug reading help

2006 KX250 with fresh too end and full TMR motor and this is what my plug looks like. I think it was running crisp but had a ping/ sneeze when under load, what do you think? I was at a 155 main, 52 pilot, stock needle on second from top. This is for about 2000 elevation and it was 85 degrees. Tom Morgan who built the motor was calling for sea level and 160, 55, and same on the needle... I run C12 and Motul 800 at 40:1

Put a NEW plug in and do a jetting run. That plug looks like its been in for a while. What oil and ratio?

Lumpy,

That was a new plug on a fresh top end with straight C12 and Motul 800 at 40:1

Weird that its still pinging. Our 05 pings with pump gas, but the motor is all stock as well as jetting. As soon as you put vp110 or c12 in, it runs perfect

motul 300v ??

are you using 4stroke oil for a 2 stroke? Only know the motul 710 and the motul 800 for a 2 stroke.

That is a hair rich IMHO, but it also depends greatly on the last ride you did and where about the throttle was when the engine was shut down.

If you are experiencing pinging, that is a sure sign of low octane, lean jetting, I would increase your octane to see if it goes away, it should.

How do you do plug checks?

I've got a 162 main in mine. It pinged a little last week when it was 34 degrees. Saturday was 70 and it ran perfect. I run 1 gallon of C12 to 4 gallons of 93 @ 32:1.

That was done at the end of my break in ride and I parked close to where the start straight is at Mesquite MX and it isn't used during open practice. I did a WFO pull reverse up the straight towards the pits and chopped it and hit the kill switch at the top of third gear and pushed it back to the truck. That plug has about 1 hour of ride time on it, should I have put a new plug in just for the jetting pull?

I am using C12 straight as recommended by Tom Morgan... would hate to think I would need more than 112!

aha, straight c12 and you have pinging is potentially a sign of lean jetting but the plug looks a hair rich to me...easy test, go up on the main by a size or two and test!

That's what I did after I took the photo I went from the 155 to the 160, I dropped a new plug in it and will test again this weekend and report back if it doesn't fix it.
