Picked this bike up yesterday and had a chance to ride it today, brought back all kinds of memories.
The biggest downfall however is the fact the suspension is ‘87 Yamaha. It’s soft, harsh and everything in between.

Anybody do an upgrade to one of these? I’m envisioning the forks off my sons ‘20 YZ 125 and some type of shock upgrade and this thing would be a whole new bike.

One word: Ohlins. Cool

That was the trick setup in the '80s on Yamahas anyway.

Race Tech has a variety of options, ranging from their Emulators to a custom shock. They've really gotten into the vintage scene.

1988 was the 1st. year they put cartridge forks on them. Big improvement, might look into that?
