Brother has a 2019 KX250F. Seems like every time I check the oil it is at the "low" mark, which is a concern to me. The bike only has 7 hours since he bought it new. I've changed the oil every 2 to 3 hours.

Last time I changed the oil, 2 hours ago, I vividly remember putting in 200 mL of oil more than what the book calls for to get the oil just below the "high" mark. As I was prepping it tonight, I noticed the oil is down to the low mark.

Bike doesn't burn or leak oil, that I am aware of. I'm hoping someone can provide insight as to what is going on here. The book says it's a "dry sump" system and depending on the position of the engine it can alter what shows on the glass. I guess I'm confused because my YZ250F always shows the same level, regardless.

Can someone help explain this? Thanks.

I add the amount recommended and don’t worry about the sight glass on my KTM.

the sight glass is useless on the KX250F’s. Even on level ground, about half the oil will wind up trapped on the stator side of the motor and doesn’t make its way to the sump where the sight glass is. Most people with either their auto or lawnmower repair experience find this hard to believe, but it’s true.

1 quart after simple oil change. 1.1 quarts after oil & filter change.
